THE IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING A PERSONAL JOURNAL

As per the dictionary, a journal is a written record of what you have done each day, sometimes including your private thoughts and feelings.

Everyone must have heard of Anne Frank. She is considered as the most discussed Jewish victim of the Holocaust and gained popularity posthumously with the publication of her personal diary “The diary of a young girl”. The world would not have known the plight of millions of Jews under Nazi reign if they had not found her diary. Many got inspired by Anne to keep a journal, so did I.

You can check out my review of “The Diary Of A Young Girl”.

Here are a few good reasons to get started with journaling:

1. Improves your mental health.

Journaling is highly effective for people suffering from depression, anxiety, and stress. The most significant aspect of journalling is, it helps to keep track of your state of mind. One of the main reasons for mental illness is the lack of knowledge about the inner self. Writing your thoughts and emotions will dwindle the mental pressure to an extent and get more clarity. So it benefits to put control over your emotions because to know yourself is a tedious task than to know others.

2. Helps you to get a better perspective.

Most of the time people get confused when they think too much. If you write a journal regularly, this problem can be solved. Each time you write an entry in the journal, you are telling a story in your perspective. So it could not be easier to figure out the flaws of your life. And steer you to look at the right direction and bring out the best in you.

3. To jot down insights.

If you are a writer, journaling is the best way to keep a record of your daily dose of insights. I found it very fruitful for my writings. Human minds are complex, each day our brain cooks new thoughts and ideas, so jotting it down on the journal will be a better way to define our outlooks more clearly.

4. Improves your writing skill

No other way is more effective than journalling when it comes to master the language. You can ace the language as well as improve the writing skill through writing the journal. It is like killing two birds with a stone, isn’t it? A good story born from authors’ life experiences, so to be a great writer start journalling today.

Apart from conventional journals, journalling apps are available for the ease of use. I would recommend three such apps which I found useful from a lot of journaling apps: Penzu, Diaro, & Journey.

THANK YOU!

BOOK REVIEW: NORWEGIAN WOOD BY HARUKI MURAKAMI

TITLE: NORWEGIAN WOOD AUTHOR: HARUKI MURAKAMI GENRE: FICTION GOODREADS SYNOPSIS Toru, a quiet and preternaturally serious young college student in Tokyo, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before. Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there, but Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable. As she retreats further into her own world, Toru finds himself reaching out to others and drawn to a fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman. A poignant story of one college student's romantic coming-of-age, Norwegian Wood takes us to that distant place of a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love. MY REVIEW I was so excited to pick this book because one of my favourite book bloggers loves Murakami’s work and I often hear the same from his Instagram posts. I did not know ab
